A Family Steeped in Violence
The horrific attack was not an isolated incident in the Doran family. As Connor and Brandon Doran faced questioning, their older brother, Ryan, was already preparing for trial on a separate murder charge. Ryan had previously carried out a fatal, unprovoked assault on 42-year-old Wayne Mitchell.
The family’s turmoil extended further: their mother, Linda Doran, was later jailed for providing a false alibi, obstructing the police investigation. Another sibling, Jordan Doran, faced contempt charges after using a phone to take pictures during court proceedings.
A Night That Ended in Tragedy
On the night of August 17, 2012, Kevin Bennett became the target of a vicious attack while sleeping in an alley near County Road. Connor Doran encouraged Simon Evans to strike multiple blows, while Brandon acted as a lookout. Despite sustaining severe injuries, Mr. Bennett managed to stagger to the front of a nearby store before collapsing. Tragically, he succumbed six days later in hospital due to an infection.
