First picture of ‘kind’ boy, 16, found dead on railway alongside teen

The grieving parents of Joshua Myers, a 16-year-old boy found lifeless on a quiet railway track, have shared a touching tribute, saying their son “had no idea how deeply loved he was.”

Joshua was one of two teenagers tragically discovered on the tracks near Poynton station in Cheshire late Thursday evening, around 10 p.m.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but sadly, both Joshua and another 16-year-old boy were pronounced dead.

Authorities from British Transport Police have confirmed that there is no suspicion surrounding their deaths.

In a heartfelt statement, Joshua’s parents expressed their immense pride in their “incredibly precious son,” mourning the loss of a beloved child who meant the world to them.

They shared:
“He had no idea just how deeply loved he was. Our hearts are shattered, and the world feels so empty without him. He will live in our hearts forever.

He was the best big brother anyone could ask for—full of love for his large family. Thoughtful, kind, bright, and intelligent, his warm sense of humor always lit up everything he did. Josh loved playing computer games, running—including park runs—and badminton.

Some of his happiest moments were spent relaxing and playing on family holidays—bodyboarding, swimming, and caring for his younger siblings. His close friends meant the world to him, and he truly treasured the time spent with them.

We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of kindness and support we’ve received during this heartbreaking time.

We kindly ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this profound loss.”

Floral tributes have been left at Poynton station as a heartfelt memorial to the two 16-year-olds lost in the tragedy.

One passenger, who disembarked at the station on Friday, described the heartbreaking event to the Manchester Evening News as “devastating.”

She shared, “It’s just so devastating. I have teenage children myself, including a 16-year-old boy. It makes the loss feel painfully close to home.”

Authorities have not released any further information regarding the circumstances of the incident or any suspicions about what may have happened.
