What We Know So Far About the Texas Flood Tragedy
Flash Flood Catastrophe:
Central Texas was ravaged Friday by catastrophic flash flooding, triggering a sudden 20-26 foot surge along the Guadalupe River near Kerrville. Roads were washed away, homes damaged, and entire communities left reeling.
Rising Death Toll:
At least 79 lives have been lost across six counties. Kerr County alone has reported 68 deaths, including 28 children. Officials confirm 11 children are still missing from Camp Mystic, a summer camp caught in the flood’s path.
Ongoing Weather Threat:
The National Weather Service has extended a Flash Flood Watch for much of south-central Texas, with more heavy rainfall expected to worsen conditions today.
