Former President Donald Trump has signed a sweeping executive order authorizing the deportation of foreign nationals—including students—who participate in pro-Palestinian protests. The move, announced in the wake of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel, directs the Justice Department to take immediate action.
The order specifically targets individuals deemed threats to Jewish communities, citing concerns over terrorism, arson, and violent acts. Trump vowed that any foreign residents involved in what he called “pro-jihadist” demonstrations will face deportation starting in 2025. Student visas held by those supporting Hamas will also be revoked.
This executive order is in line with Trump’s hardline 2024 campaign platform on immigration and national security—and it’s already reigniting heated national debate over civil liberties, protest rights, and public safety.
