Woman, 29, Falls Into Coma After Tattoo During Bachelorette Trip To Spain

“She’s Fighting for Her Life”: Bachelorette Trip to Spain Turns into Nightmare for 29-Year-Old British Woman

What began as a joyful getaway turned into a terrifying ordeal for Poppy-Mae Crutchley, a 29-year-old from Worcester, UK, who is now in a coma in a Spanish hospital.

Poppy was celebrating her first girls’ holiday abroad, attending a friend’s hen party, when her health took a sudden and devastating turn. Her father, Simon Crutchley, shared a heartbreaking photo of his daughter hooked up to life-support machines, describing her condition as “life-threatening.”

“She’s fighting for her life,” he wrote, as the family remains by her side, praying for a miracle in a situation that no one could have seen coming.

Doctors say 29-year-old Poppy-Mae Crutchley is battling multiple organ failure after falling seriously ill during a hen party trip to Spain. Her family believes the cause may be linked to a tattoo she got just days before her health took a dramatic turn.

To support Poppy’s fight and help cover mounting medical expenses — including the hope of bringing her back to the UK for further care — a GoFundMe page has been launched.

In an emotional message on the donation site, Poppy’s father, Simon Crutchley, shared:
“All I can put it down to is a tattoo she had on her wrist two days before this picture. She’s 29 but still my little girl. I don’t believe in religion, but if there’s a God up there, I beg you to send my baby a little help to pull through this because I need her. She’s too young and wonderful to be taken yet.”

Poppy began feeling unwell just days into the trip, on June 29. Initially treated in a hospital in Benidorm, she was soon transferred to a specialist facility after her condition worsened.

The friend who created the GoFundMe described the frightening progression:
“Poppy went on her first girls’ holiday for a friend’s hen do. On the first day, she enjoyed herself with friends, had a couple of drinks, and even got a tattoo.”

“Almost immediately after the tattoo, she felt so unwell she went to the hospital, where doctors acted quickly upon discovering she had no oxygen in her blood and fluid on her heart.”

“Last night, Poppy was moved to another hospital specializing in her care.”

“At this stage, doctors aren’t sure if the cause is a bacterial infection possibly from the tattoo, or if she was spiked. We’re holding onto hope and faith that with your support, we can give her the best chance to return to her bubbly, beautiful self.”
