As Jimmy Kimmel prepares to host the Academy Awards for the fourth time, whispers are swirling that his iconic run on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” may be coming to an end.

In an exclusive interview with the Los Angeles Times, the 56-year-old late-night legend opened up about his future, hinting that his current contract could be his last. “I think this is my final contract,” Kimmel revealed with refreshing honesty, aware that fans might be skeptical. “I hate to even mention it because everyone’s laughing at me now — each time I think that, and then it turns out to not be the case.”

Marking the 21st anniversary of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” has led Kimmel to some thoughtful reflection. While celebrating this huge milestone, he sees the remaining two-plus years on his contract as just the right amount of time. “I still have a little more than two years left on my contract, and that seems pretty good,” he said firmly. “That seems like enough.”

As he considers stepping away from late-night TV, Kimmel admits he’s not quite sure how he’ll spend his time once “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” is behind him. “It might not be anything that anyone other than me is aware of,” he teased, hinting at his passion for cooking, drawing, and even dabbling in sculpture — a fascinating peek into the creative outlets he’s eager to explore.

Reflecting on the loss of his grandfather, Kimmel opened up about the profound impact it had on him. Watching his grandfather’s dreams go unfulfilled left a deep impression, sparking introspection about his own life and ambitions. “I know that when I die, if I’m lucky enough to die on my own terms in my own bed, I’m going to think, ‘Oh, I was never able to get to this, and I was never able to get to that,’” he confessed with raw honesty. “I just know it about myself.”
