Kelly Clarkson has candidly shared her approach to parenting, revealing that she’s “not above” giving her children an occasional spanking when needed. The Grammy-winning singer and talk show host admits disciplining her kids in public can be tricky, especially since spanking is often frowned upon in today’s society.
In a 2018 radio interview, Clarkson clarified, “I don’t mean hitting hard – just a spanking,” reflecting on her own childhood experiences with the practice. She explained her method involves clear warnings first: “I tell them, ‘I’m going to spank you if you don’t stop,’” and said this approach has often worked well.
Clarkson and her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock share two children, River Rose (8) and Remington Alexander (6), and she frequently discusses the ups and downs of motherhood. She’s also been open about dealing with “mom guilt,” especially on days when her busy schedule keeps her away from her kids, sometimes leaving her emotionally overwhelmed.
While she was transparent about her disciplinary choices in 2018, it remains unclear if her views on spanking have changed in recent years.
