A devastating accident unfolded on the SC-390 highway in Ipira, located in the Midwest Region of Santa Catarina, on the afternoon of Saturday, the 7th. The crash tragically resulted in the death of a 31-year-old motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist was riding a high-performance BMW S1000 RR, a luxury bike known for its power and value, when the collision occurred. The crash, which attracted immediate attention from local authorities, also involved a Renault Sandero, driven by a 30-year-old woman.
The accident was a head-on collision, which intensified the severity of the crash. According to the Military Highway Police (PMRv), the motorcyclist had veered into the opposite lane during a curve, leading to the catastrophic impact with the car traveling in the opposite direction.
Firefighters rushed to the scene, providing first aid and transporting the motorcyclist to the nearest hospital, where hopes remained high for his recovery. However, despite the swift response and efforts of medical professionals, the motorcyclist’s injuries proved too severe, and he succumbed to them shortly after arrival at the hospital.
The driver of the Renault Sandero was tested for alcohol consumption, and the results showed she was sober at the time of the crash. She later reported that her family members had removed the car from the scene before authorities arrived, complicating the immediate investigation.
The BMW motorcycle, valued between R$70,000 and R$150,000, was completely destroyed in the impact, with its fairing shattered and the vehicle reduced to debris. Without a legal guardian present, the wreckage was taken to the police yard for further examination, and the extent of the damage vividly illustrated the violent nature of the collision.
