Wind Turbine Blade Falls Off Truck, Shuts Down I-70 in Both Directions

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – A dramatic crash early Monday morning brought traffic to a standstill on Interstate 70 in Washington County after a wind turbine blade detached from a tractor-trailer and landed across the highway.

Maryland State Police reported the incident caused full closures in both directions as crews rushed to clear the massive obstruction. Traffic cameras captured the striking image of the enormous blade sprawled across the interstate.

One person was transported to Meritus Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.

The crash has sparked delays and detours throughout the area as transportation officials work to restore normal traffic flow.
