Everyone loves Jennifer Lopez; she stole the nation’s hearts with her performance in the 1997 hit biopic “Selena” and hasn’t stopped since. Lopez is currently 53 and is thought to be the most influential Latin performer in the world. Her movies have grossed over $3 billion, and she has sold around 80 million copies of her musical recordings worldwide.
In addition to performing, she has clothing lines, perfumes, and a charity that provides medical care to disadvantaged children. Lopez founded the charity after her child Emme developed a peculiar bump on her head.
Although the condition was easily treated, it occurred to the mother of two that many children have no access to health care, and the Lopez Family Foundation was established shortly after that. It promotes the use of telemedicine to allow sick children to be treated by experts no matter where the child and expert happen to be physically located.
The star has incredible skills: singing, dancing, acting and producing. What you may not know is that she has 14-year-old twins. She married Marc Anthony in 2004 and had a set of fraternal twins, Emme and Maximilian.
Unfortunately, the couple split up in 2011. The divorce was finalized in 2014, and JLo got primary custody of the twins. As the twins have matured, it is uncanny how much Emme looks like their mother. Max looks a bit more like a merging of his two parents. Lopez says she loves her twins and how they help balance out her life. She also really likes how deeply bonded the two children are. Her busy schedule means her family acts as the primary caregivers for her kids; she refuses to hire a nanny. The children are allowed to “schedule” quality time with their mother, and as they have matured, they are allowed to pick what activity they want to do with Lopez. For example, Max even scheduled a picnic with JLo.
In February 2022, Lopez opened up about how things have changed as the twins have gotten older. “They’re going to be 14 in a couple of days, and they have opinions about the world and their lives,” she said. “And now they see their dad, me as well, we’re in the public eye, what that means, what that means for them, school, everything.”
JLo is very aware of the need to protect her children now that they are living in the public eye. “It’s a lot of things. You have to be conscious, too, like what you talk about from your private life in public because they’ll read it, their friends will read it, these things will happen, all these judgments made,” the singer said.
Not only does Lopez have to protect her kids from the tabloids and paparazzi, but she also has to keep them safe online. “Social media is so different now,” she explained. “It’s not just tabloid magazines, like if you happen to pick it up. Everybody can see everything you say all the time, so it’s just about being respectful to them, too, and loving them and protecting them, and protecting our family and our love, that’s all.”

Emme is also displaying their mother’s talents. Their proud mom has released a video of the child happily singing in a Christmas pageant. The teen has also said that making an album with their mother “would be a very cool experience,” and added: “That’d be great.”
In addition, the child has written a book called “Lord Help Me,” which was published in 2020. Quite an achievement for a child at their age. However, it is par for the course with a mother as hard-working and talented as Lopez.
The mother of two had previously been in the news for her rekindled relationship with her now-husband Ben Affleck. This attention is something that the star was trying to keep her kids away from for the time being. “I think when Ben and I were younger and we were together, it was something that we were just kind of out there with our relationship, and when something is sacred like that you put it out there. … It’s yours to do with what you want,” Lopez shared.
When the couple first dated from 2002 to 2004, they were very open with their love, and Affleck even appeared in Lopez’s music videos. But, this time around, they both have children, so the pair are doing their best to keep details under wraps. Lopez said:
“I think we’re older now, we have kids, and we have a different sense of responsibility, and we have a lot more experience and we’re just in a different place in our life. We’re going to try to keep as much as we can sharing our happiness, but at the same time keeping it very sacred and close to our own hearts.”
Even though Lopez has been a prominent figure in the entertainment industry for several decades, that doesn’t mean that she expects that her children will want to be. Still, the proud mama can’t help but post photos of her young ones when she feels like sharing her life with the world and showing off just how wonderful her kids are!
And Emme has also spoken highly of Lopez in recent years. Speaking with ET in 2020, Emma talked about how much she looks up to her famous mom. She said:
“Well, my mom is just amazing. She’s such a powerful human being. It’s insane. I don’t even know how to explain it. There are so many adjectives that can describe her in so many good ways.”
Lopez has taken to Instagram countless times over the years to share photographs and videos of herself along with her kids – especially Emme – showing off just how strong their bond is.
In November 2016, the singer and actress shared a cute moment with Emme. She uploaded a photo that showed the mother-daughter pair playing around with a filter that made it look like they had glasses on. Lopez captioned the post, “Me and lil lulu … #mommydaughtermoments #emme #LOVE.”
The proud mom shared another sweet photo of Emme that same month. This time she captioned the post, “I ❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️ THIS FACE #mybaby #coconut #marshmallowprincess #lulu.”
People couldn’t get over just how much Emme resembled her beautiful mother. One person even commented, “She looks just like you!” Another person agreed, saying, “Omg she looks like you.”
