Cher isn’t mincing words. The legendary pop icon says she’s ready to pack her bags and leave the U.S. if Donald Trump is re-elected president in 2024.
In a candid interview with The Guardian, the 78-year-old superstar didn’t hold back:
“I almost got an ulcer the last time. If he gets in, who knows? This time I will leave the country.”
A longtime LGBTQ+ advocate and mother to a transgender son, Chaz Bono, Cher blasted the Trump-era rollback of LGBTQ protections and the growing wave of anti-trans legislation.
“They’re trying to pass something like 500 bills,” she said. “I was with two trans girls the other night – and of course my own child. I told them, ‘We’ve got to stand together.’ I don’t even know what their endgame is for trans people. I don’t put anything past them.”
This isn’t new territory for Cher. Back in 2020, she famously said, “I hate to even call him a president because all he does is watch TV.” And she didn’t stop there.
“If Trump can’t be in the White House, he’s going to burn it down,” she predicted. “He’s the most vindictive person I’ve ever witnessed. He’s fighting so hard because he knows he’ll be prosecuted the moment he’s out.”
