President Donald Trump was unexpectedly forced to end a White House press conference early due to a sudden medical emergency in the room.
The incident occurred as Trump was swearing in TV personality Dr. Mehmet Oz as the new administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The high-profile appointment took a dramatic turn when a young girl in attendance collapsed during the ceremony, according to the Irish Star.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt swiftly ended the briefing and instructed reporters to vacate the room as medical personnel responded to the situation.
“Press out,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt firmly instructed as cameras rolled, signaling an abrupt end to President Donald Trump’s press conference on Monday.

The disruption came during the swearing-in of TV personality Dr. Mehmet Oz as the new head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). As the ceremony unfolded in the Oval Office, a young girl suddenly collapsed, prompting swift action.
Realizing something was wrong, President Trump immediately paused his speech and stepped away from the podium, visibly concerned. “I hope she’s OK,” he was overheard saying.
Dr. Oz was seen rushing off camera to assist, while staff and medical personnel quickly responded. Footage showed the girl being escorted out of the room in a hurry.
Later, the White House issued a statement confirming that a “minor family member” had fainted during the ceremony but was now doing well. “A minor family member fainted during Dr. Oz’s swearing-in ceremony in the Oval Office. We are happy to say she is OK,” the statement read.
What began as a routine event took a dramatic turn, reminding everyone how quickly the unexpected can unfold—even in the nation’s highest office.
Before the incident, President Trump introduced Dr. Mehmet Oz with high praise, calling him “one of the nation’s most talented and beloved medical professionals.”
Trump highlighted Dr. Oz’s impressive academic and professional background, noting that he graduated from Harvard University and went on to earn both a Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Medicine and the Wharton School.
Dr. Oz built a distinguished career as a heart surgeon and professor of cardiac surgery at Columbia University. He also served as the Director of the Cardiovascular Institute and integrative medicine program at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
Beyond the operating room, Dr. Oz became a household name as the host of The Dr. Oz Show, a popular health and wellness program that aired from 2009 until its final episode in 2022.

During its run, The Dr. Oz Show often found itself at the center of controversy due to some of the medical advice Dr. Oz shared with viewers. One of the most criticized claims was his endorsement of green coffee extract as a “magic weight loss cure”—a statement that was later condemned by the Federal Trade Commission for being misleading and unsupported by scientific evidence.
Dr. Oz’ appointment to CMS was confirmed earlier this month with a 53-45 Senate vote.
