The Osbourne Child You Never Saw On TV— Why They Left Home At 16

Fans are reflecting on Ozzy Osbourne’s legendary career following the heartbreaking news that the “Prince of Darkness” has entered the rock and roll hall of fame in the sky at age 76.

Just weeks ago, millions witnessed his unforgettable farewell concert at Villa Park, where Ozzy commanded the stage with Black Sabbath, seated on a throne adorned with a giant bat—a fitting end to an iconic journey.

His final performance also sparked an incredible wave of generosity, raising around £140 million for charity. The funds are being donated to Cure Parkinson’s, Acorns Children’s Hospice, and Birmingham Children’s Hospital—causes close to Ozzy’s heart.

For many, The Osbournes reality show offered an intimate glimpse behind the scenes, showcasing Ozzy and Sharon alongside their children Kelly and Jack, revealing the family dynamic beyond the rock star’s wild persona.

While Kelly and Jack Osbourne became household names through The Osbournes reality show, not everyone in the family embraced the spotlight. The Osbournes are often credited as trailblazers who ushered in a new era of celebrity reality TV, but one child’s absence from the series remains a lesser-known story.

Ozzy Osbourne has six children in total—three from his first marriage to Thelma Riley, and three with Sharon. Among them, Aimee Osbourne, the eldest, chose a different path. When The Osbournes began filming, Aimee had already moved out, deciding to keep her life private and off-camera.

In a candid 2020 interview with The Independent, Aimee opened up about her choice: “Back then, I was still trying to figure out who I was amidst the chaos of family life. Why would I want that portrayed on television?”

She added, “I wanted to protect myself—and my parents and siblings. They were so young and impressionable.”

Although Aimee admitted she might have “liked to stay at home a little longer,” the family ultimately outvoted her, 4 to 1.

Her mother, Sharon, spoke about Aimee’s decision on The Talk in 2018, revealing the emotional toll it took on her: “She hated the idea of growing up on camera. It was appalling to her. She left at 16, and I regret it every day. It broke my heart.”

As for Ozzy himself, years after the show ended, he confessed to being high through almost the entire series. Speaking on BBC Radio 2, he said he couldn’t bring himself to watch it again, knowing exactly the state he was in during filming.
