Our thoughts and prayers go out to Donald Trump and his family for their tragic loss

Renowned political analyst Lou Dobbs has passed away at the age of 78, leaving behind a complex legacy. Famous for his influential roles at CNN and Fox News, Dobbs was often a polarizing figure, especially noted for his outspoken remarks about Barack Obama.

Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to pay tribute, calling Dobbs “an incredible talent” and “a friend and truly amazing reporter, journalist, and artist.” Trump added, “Lou was unique, and he loved our nation deeply.”

Dobbs’s career began in the 1970s at KBLU radio in Arizona before he made the leap to television with NBC’s King-TV in Seattle. He became one of CNN’s pioneering reporters, launching the flagship business program Moneyline in 1980.

After leaving CNN in 2009 amid controversy over his coverage of illegal immigration, Dobbs found a new home at Fox Business with his popular show Lou Dobbs Tonight, which aired until 2021.

Fox News Media expressed their condolences, describing Dobbs as “an amazing businessman with a gift for broadcasting” and acknowledging his significant impact on cable news. He is survived by his wife Debi and their six children.
