Tragic Loss of Young Rodeo Star Ace Patton Ashford
Ace Patton Ashford, an 18-year-old rodeo roper, tragically passed away on August 12 following a freak accident near Chilton, Texas. While assisting a sick cow, his leg became entangled, and he was dragged across an open field by a frightened horse.
Though first responders found Ace alive with head injuries, he later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
A gifted roper, Ace had just graduated from Rosebud-Lott High School and was only weeks away from beginning college at Hill College. His obituary highlighted his dedication, noting, “Ace would dedicate innumerable hours to roping in order to reach his full potential.” He was remembered as a vibrant young man who loved the outdoors, rodeoing, and cherishing time with friends.
