The family, residents of Várzea Alegre, were en route to Juazeiro do Norte for a routine surgical procedure for young Miguel—a journey that would normally take about an hour. What was meant to be a hopeful trip for healing and care instead ended in heartbreak.
The accident occurred around 7 a.m., when their vehicle lost control and plunged into a stream near Sítio Piripiri. The water, approximately five meters deep, made rescue efforts extremely difficult and contributed to the fatal outcome.
