Horror as Texas school bus carrying 42 students rolls over in violent crash

A Texas school bus carrying 42 students and a driver overturned on a rural road just outside Austin earlier this week, sending ten people, including nine students, to the hospital.

The Travis County Emergency Services District confirmed the elementary school bus crash occurred shortly after classes ended on Wednesday, before any students had been dropped off. Kevin Parker, assistant chief with Austin-Travis County Medical Emergency Services, reported that one injury is life-threatening, while two others are considered potentially life-threatening.

According to ABC News, a total of 43 people were on board the 2024-model bus when it veered off the right side of the road and rolled over.

Bruce Gerring of the Leander Independent School District told NBC that the cause of the crash remains unclear. Officials from the Texas Department of Public Safety noted that the incident happened on a slight curve in the road.

Gerring added that the bus driver was experienced, but it is not yet known how many students were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
