Newly Declassified Records Suggest Adam Schiff Approved Leaks of Classified Information During Trump–Russia Probe

Freshly unsealed FBI interview summaries are stirring fresh controversy around Senator Adam Schiff, after a whistleblower alleged he personally green-lit the leaking of classified information at the height of the Trump–Russia investigation — leaks said to be aimed squarely at politically damaging then-President Donald Trump.

The records, obtained by Just The News, span FBI interviews conducted between 2017 and 2023 with a source described as a Democratic intelligence officer who once worked directly for the House Intelligence Committee. At the time, Schiff served as the panel’s top Democrat and would soon rise to chairman.

Whistleblower’s Bombshell

According to the whistleblower, Schiff gathered his staff in an all-hands meeting and bluntly declared the committee would leak classified material “derogatory” to Trump, with the explicit goal of building a case to indict him.

One FBI record quotes the whistleblower as saying:

“In this meeting, SCHIFF stated the group would leak classified information which was derogatory to President of the United States DONALD J. TRUMP. SCHIFF stated the information would be used to indict President TRUMP.”

The source also claimed that Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) acted as a likely conduit for the leaks — a charge Swalwell denies, instead attacking FBI Director Kash Patel and dismissing the claims’ credibility.

Ambition and Motive

The whistleblower further alleged Schiff had been promised the role of CIA Director if Hillary Clinton had won the 2016 election. When Clinton lost, that door slammed shut — but the source claims Schiff remained determined to weaken Trump’s presidency through targeted disclosures.

Despite allegedly witnessing Schiff’s leak approvals firsthand and taking the matter to federal authorities, the whistleblower says the Justice Department showed no interest in investigating. Soon after alerting the FBI, they claim they were abruptly fired.

While speculation over Schiff’s alleged leaks has circulated for years in conservative circles, fresh reporting adds new intrigue. Investigative journalist Paul Sperry of RealClearInvestigations suggested the leaks may have found their way to Washington Post national security reporter Ellen Nakashima — long considered a trusted contact for top intelligence officials, including former CIA Director John Brennan, during the early Trump–Russia saga.

If true, this link could tie Schiff’s alleged actions directly to some of the most high-profile national security stories of the era.

Lingering Questions

Whether these newly declassified records will spark an official probe remains unclear. Critics say the Justice Department’s inaction when first receiving the allegations only deepens mistrust in government oversight — particularly when classified information is at stake.

For now, Schiff has stayed silent on the whistleblower’s claims and the newly released FBI documents, leaving unanswered the question of just how far the leaks may have gone — and what role they played in one of the most politically charged investigations of the decade.
