Jack Schlossberg, grandson of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy, found himself at the center of a social media storm this week after a string of controversial posts—ending with a strange joke involving Vice President J.D. Vance’s wife, Usha Vance.
The drama kicked off on April 6, 2025, when Schlossberg announced on X (formerly Twitter), “I’m having a son!! I’m thrilled about this. Today was the happiest day of my life, and I am eagerly awaiting the birth of my next child. Yes, out of wedlock. However, we might end up getting married.”
The unusual tone and provocative nature of his posts quickly drew backlash, setting the stage for even more heated reactions when the joke about Usha Vance emerged.
On Instagram, Schlossberg echoed his announcement with a post reading, “We named Jason Schlossberg! 5 pounds, 0 ounces. April 6, 2025.”
But the real firestorm erupted when he shared a bizarre, photoshopped image of Second Lady Usha Vance cradling a baby—its head partially overlaid with his own adult face. The caption read: “Little Jason and his mom. You never feel prepared to have children… until you become one one day.”
The unsettling edit, paired with the cryptic caption, sent social media into overdrive, with critics blasting the post as inappropriate and disrespectful.

In the wake of the uproar, People magazine published a side-by-side collage comparing Schlossberg to the Vance family, highlighting the bizarre altered image.
Seemingly trying to explain himself, Schlossberg reposted a screenshot of the coverage with a caption that only fueled further debate: “The joke is that I’m capable of producing a male heir.”

The backlash was swift and relentless. On X, one user blasted, “You’re an embarrassment,” while another wrote, “What a troll—his grandfather would be ashamed.” A third urged, “Delete this, and get help.”
While this episode sparked the loudest outrage yet, it wasn’t Schlossberg’s first provocative jab at the Vance family. Back on January 20, 2025, he stirred controversy by invoking his grandmother, former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, in a tweet that read: “True or false: Usha Vance is way hotter than Jackie O.”

The following day, Schlossberg doubled down with another eyebrow-raising post: “I’m a literal pervert. Have I completely lost my mind after calling my grandmother ‘hot’?” The self-deprecating remark only fueled more backlash, with one user firing back, “This child will stop at nothing to get attention… Your grandfather would be embarrassed. Really. It’s time to find employment.”
By early March, Schlossberg was at it again—this time sharing a photoshopped image of Usha Vance kissing his cheek, captioned, “My love, my sweet Ushie.”
In a televised interview with MSNBC host Jen Psaki, Schlossberg openly addressed his online antics, admitting they were deliberate. “It’s hard to make an impression on the internet—particularly if you’re not making a controversial or at least unexpected statement,” he explained.
“I make posts that I think are funny or silly but have a purpose—either to make you think, ‘This guy’s crazy… why is he speaking like this about his own family?’ Then you get all these retweets, quotes, and everybody flips out about it—and I think that’s kind of the game the other side’s been playing really well. Half the fight is just getting a reaction.”
When asked who he most enjoys trolling, Schlossberg pointed to past online jabs at both Vice President J.D. Vance and his own cousin. “The ‘Hey J.D.’ videos did pretty good online,” he said with a grin. “But honestly, I think my cousin RFK Jr. is more of a threat.”
