White House Confirms Donald Trump Diagnosed with Common Vein Condition Amid Health Speculation
Following mounting rumors, the White House has officially confirmed that former President Donald Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a frequently occurring condition especially among older adults. The announcement came after viral photos showed visible bruising on Trump’s hands and noticeable swelling in his legs, sparking widespread public curiosity.
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt described the diagnosis as “benign and common,” explaining that it stems from damaged veins that disrupt normal blood flow. Trump’s doctor attributed the bruises to “minor soft tissue irritation,” likely caused by his frequent handshakes and aspirin use, according to a medical letter released alongside the statement.
Chronic venous insufficiency can cause symptoms like leg pain, swelling, itching, skin discoloration, and a heavy feeling in the limbs. Without proper management, it can lead to ulcers and significantly impact quality of life. The National Institutes of Health reports approximately 150,000 new cases each year.
At 79, Trump remains the oldest person ever elected president, frequently leveraging his age and health status as political tools. During the 2024 presidential race, he repeatedly questioned President Joe Biden’s cognitive health. Biden eventually withdrew in July, ceding the Democratic nomination to Vice President Kamala Harris, who later lost to Trump.
Addressing public concerns, Leavitt reassured that recent tests reveal “normal cardiac structure and function,” with no indications of heart failure, kidney problems, or serious conditions such as arterial disease or deep vein thrombosis.
When pressed about treatment details, Leavitt deferred to Trump’s personal physician, declining to provide specifics.
Trump’s history with medical transparency has often stirred debate. In 2015, his longtime doctor Harold Bornstein famously revealed that Trump himself authored a letter proclaiming he would be “the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.”
