What should have been the beginning of a beautiful journey ended in betrayal and bloodshed in the misty hills of Shillong, India.
On May 20, businessman Raja Raghuvanshi arrived in the scenic city with his new bride, Sonam Raghuvanshi, to celebrate their honeymoon. Just days later, his lifeless body was discovered in a remote canyon—stripped of identification, his wedding ring gone, and his dreams brutally cut short.
At first, police suspected Raj Kushwaha, a man believed to be Sonam’s lover. But as investigators dug deeper, the truth turned more sinister: it was Sonam herself who masterminded the murder.
Authorities say she lured Raj into helping her, promising love in return. Together with three paid accomplices—Vishal Singh, Anand Kurmi, and Akash Rajput—Sonam plotted Raja’s death. She tracked her husband’s every move, guiding the killers to him. Sometime between May 23 and 24, Raja was ambushed and thrown into the gorge.
The betrayal didn’t end there.
Raj, thinking Sonam would finally be his, returned to Indore—only to learn she had already moved on to a third man. Shockingly, she also intended to have Raj eliminated next.
Phone records led to Sonam’s arrest on June 8. Faced with mounting evidence, she confessed.
