Blake Shelton’s Unexpected Act of Heroism: Rescuing Teens from Oklahoma Mudslide
Blake Shelton is no stranger to the spotlight, but this time, it’s not his romance with Gwen Stefani making headlines—it’s his heartwarming rescue of four stranded teens in Oklahoma. While driving near the Washita River in Ardmore, Shelton stumbled upon Bryar Blanton, Lenyell Blanton, Josh Turner, and Adrian Poplin, who had found themselves stuck in a muddy pit caused by a landslide.
After two hours of trying to free two of their friends, Bryar and Adrian set off in search of help—and that’s when they met Blake. Arriving with his trusty dog, Betty, Shelton didn’t hesitate to help, attempting to pull the teens out with his truck. When that didn’t work, the country star made good on his word, promising to return with a tractor for the rescue.
The teens, in awe of the unexpected encounter, snapped a photo with Shelton, who stayed behind to chat about everything from hunting to life in Oklahoma, proving his down-to-earth nature. Bryar later took to Twitter to thank Blake, who jokingly responded, “No problem… Now you boys stay outta jail!!!”
This wasn’t Shelton’s first act of kindness. He previously came to the aid of a man stranded during Tropical Storm Bill, further cementing his reputation as more than just a country music icon. Shelton’s acts of generosity seem especially close to his heart, particularly after the tragic loss of his brother, Richie, who died in a car accident when Blake was just 14.
On stage or off, Blake Shelton continues to prove he’s a local hero, ready to lend a hand when it’s needed most.
